Title: Autumn 2009 - PhD course Jönköping
Author(s): EvaBlomqvist, AldoGangemi

Goal:

To teach computational ontologies and Ontology Design Patterns for the semantic web.

Brief description

A two-day PhD course teaching computational ontologies and Ontology Design Patterns for the semantic web. Assumes basic knowledge of information modeling and ontologies, some knowledge of RDF/OWL is beneficial.

Schedule:

  • Day 1
    • 09:30-10:00 Introduction to computational ontologies and ontology engineering (Lecture) - Aldo Gangemi
        • Computational ontologies
        • Ontology engineering methods and tools - from Competency Questions to ontologies
        • Ontology languages (RDF/OWL + SPARQL)
    • 10:00-10:30 Introduction to the semantic web and applications of ontologies (Lecture + "trying out" online applications) - Aldo Gangemi
