How to post or contribute to a modeling issue (in a nutshell)

- View existing modeling issues to see if your issue is already there.
- If so, click on it and skip to next step. If not, Click the link: Post a modeling issue now.
- Fill out or add to existing form describing various aspects of the modeling issue.

The steps for posting new issues and contributing to existing issues are described below.

Recommended Procedure for Posting or Contributing to Modeling Issues
Step 1: Is the modeling issue you wish to submit already in the table of modeling issues?
View the existing modeling issues. Is the issue you want to post already there?
- Yes?
- Click link in leftmost column to open the issue.
- Check for accuracy and completeness.
- Make changes and additions as appropriate following instructions in step 2 below. You are finished.
- No?
- Click to Post a modeling issue now.
- Continue to step 2.
Step 2: Filling out the modeling issue form
How you proceed will depend on how well developed your thinking is about your issue. Fill in as many of the fields below as you can. There are three tabs: Description, About Modeling Issue, and Free Text.
- Fill in the mandatory Descriptoin fields:
- Title:Enter the name of the exemplary ontology.
- Description: Give a concise description or abstract of the ontology, highlighting what is most important.
- Purpose: Indicate what the ontology is for and what the intended benefits are to whom.
- Justification: Explain why the ontology is exemplary. It should meet some of these criteria.
- URI: Give a URI of where the .owl file may be found.
- Domains: Enter one or more domains, separated by a comma.
- Fill in as many optional fields as you can.
- Organization List the major organization(s) associated with this ontology. This may be who owns and controls the ontology, the organization(s) managing associated projects, or where most of the work was or is being done.
- Authors List the major authors and contributors that helped create the ontology.
- Licensing Indicate any licensing arrangements that govern the distribution of the ontology, e.g. open source, GNU, CopyLeft. See Sofware license on Wikipedia.
- Competency questions: Enter one or more competency questions, separated by a comma.
- Scenario: Describe one or more situations where this ontology is particularly useful.
- Known Issues: Describe one or more known issues related to this ontology.
- Web References (Links): List one or more URLs to websites with helpful information about this exemplary ontology.
- Other References: List one or more references to helpful information about this exemplary ontology that are not URL links.
- Long Description: Give a more detailed description of the ontology. Enter or paste as much text as you need. HINT: you can cut and paste large amounts of already nicely formated text into into a word processor that exports to wiki format (e.g. OpenOffice Writer). Then paste that into the field. Suggested content:
- Purpose: describe the purpose and intended users;
- Content: highlight key elements of the ontology's structure and content;
- Usage: indicate how much use the ontology is getting from whom.
- Availability Details: Include any additional details on how to get the ontology not mentioned above (e.g. licensing, cost, links).
- Recommended by Give the name(s) of any individuals that recommended the ontology as being exemplary, other than the author.
